The Central Wisconsin Boating and Fishing Swap Meet runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Shoreline Boat Center warehouse at 750 South St., Green Lake. The entrance fee is $2 per person, and those younger than 16 will get in free.

The event will provide a venue to buy, sell or trade fishing and boating equipment and other outdoor gear from as many as 50 indoor vendors, with additional outdoor spaces displaying boats, personal watercraft, trailers, boat lifts and other large outdoor sporting items. Area boating- and fishing-related organizations also have been invited to provide informational displays.

All proceeds will support the American Legion Post 306 building fund. Legion members also will host a brat fry with convenient drive-in service at the warehouse’s South Street entrance.

Green Lake volunteer Phil Burkart organized the swap meet in its first two years. This year, he gave the American Legion the opportunity to continue the successful event. “The American Legion has been actively raising funds to retire the remaining $155,000 of debt on its new building. As a veteran and American Legion member, I am proud to pass the baton in support of the American Legion building fund,” said Burkart.

Post 306 Commander Mark Kramer is enthusiastic about the possibilities for growing the event well into the future. “We envision the Central Wisconsin Boating and Fishing Swap Meet as an annual Green Lake tradition that is eagerly anticipated and well attended each year,” he said. “We are grateful to Phil for this opportunity and to Shoreline Boat Center for providing a location large enough to host the event,” he continued.

Vendor booths for the swap meet still are available with spaces being assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Indoor (8-foot-by-10-foot) booths with a table are $15 and outdoor boat and trailer parking spaces are available for $10. In addition to traditional boating and fishing equipment, vendors are welcome to sell hunting equipment, tubes, rafts and water toys. Vendor applications and other event details are available at greenlakelegion.org/swapmeet or by calling 920-229-1737.

The American Legion is an organization comprised of veterans committed to serving veterans, their families and their communities. American Legion Post 306 was chartered in 1929 in Green Lake.
