VIRGINIA (WHSV) — The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries is urging you to put those phones down and get hooked on fishing instead.
It’s Free Fishing Weekend in Virginia and that means no fishing license is required.
“It’s a nice way to kind of put your phones away and spend some quality time together, and not be all over social media,” a member of the Stevens family said.
Although a fishing license for Free Fishing weekend is not needed, you state regulations should still be in mind.
These regulations apply to number of fish you can catch, the weight, the type and more.
Kevin Little, a co-owner of South River Fly Shop in Waynesboro, said the regulations can vary depending on the species of fish.
