Local Sertoma Club set to host fishing rodeo – Pensacola News Journal
The 27th Annual Gulf Breeze Sertoma Family Fishing Rodeo will happen this Saturday and Sunday June 10 & 11 at the Shoreline Park South Pavilion in Gulf Breeze. Anglers can begin fishing at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday June 10 and fishing will conclude at 5 p.m. on Sunday June 11.
The cost is only $15 to enter and tickets are available at Gulf Breeze Bait and Tackle in Gulf Breeze and Outcast Bait and Tackle in Pensacola.
Eligible species include bluefish, bonita, croaker, cobia, dolphin, flounder, grouper, king mackerel, lionfish, mullet, pinfish, redfish, sheepshead, skipjack, snapper, Spanish mackerel, speckled trout, wahoo, white trout. Some of the species are only available in the open division and others are only awarded to juniors so be sure to take a look at the rules before hitting the water.
First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded in both the open and junior divisions. First place winners will receive a coveted Skip Tanner hand hammered replica fish trophy along with some cash. Second and third place finishers will receive a custom coin medallion and cash.
There will also be a lionfish division for spear fisherman and someone will take home a Luminox watch donated by Bere Jewelers. The winner will be determined by who brings in the most lionfish by weight.
Once again, they will have on site a youth fishing educational program for participating junior anglers that is presented by Fish Florida. It’s a very educational experience and will include a rod and reel on completion of the course. This will available both days of the event from 12 to 3 p.m.
All proceeds from the event go to the support of many local youth projects and the youth services agencies in Santa Rosa and Escambia Counties. A long list of local organizations have benefited from the rodeo in the past and this year the Gulf Breeze Sertoma has set a goal to raise $35,000, last year they raised $30,000.

Anglers fishing the Hargreaves Rodeo may fish Friday June 16 and Saturday June 17, while the kayak tournament is a one day event on June 17.
